Indigenous child welfare rates creating 'humanitarian crisis' in Canada, says federal minister.11/2/2017 Indigenous Service Minister, Jane Philpott, wrote a letter to provincial on Tuesday requesting a "emergency meeting" on a Indigenous children and family services. Indigenous leaders will also attend the meeting. Census data last week recorded 4,300 Indigenous children is under the age of four are currently in foster care. This is pretty much the same as the residential school system, kids are being taken away from their home and their family. Ottawa themselves put in 200 million last year for First Nation welfare and an additional 256 million this year. First Nations National Chief said more money is need to make all of this work. Chief said that "children only have one childhood" wanting to make the child's life better and full of hope. Ottawa would then execute a type of plan like the Marshall Plan but it would be called Spirit Bear Plan. My opinion on this would be that we should help the children not only First Nation but Non First Nation also, I think that it is a good idea that we are trying to help them and put them into better places, but the amount of money that is going towards them is ridiculous.

So many children are being taken out of their homes, we should have better programs for these communities so that this problem isn't as prevalent

Why can't people just leave indigenous children with their families? "Children only have one childhood', that should mean that the children should spend their childhoods being with their families and learn about their heritage.

Good topic. This is a very important topic, especially consider the past history Canada has on subjects like this. It will be interesting to see how this develops in future years.

Rebuilding our First Nations - the "Spirit Bear Plan" - this is important for Canada right now - I think more than some people know.
