Line: is an identifiable path created by a point moving in space. It is one-dimensional and can vary in width, direction, and length. http://www.onelargeprawn.co.za/2012/04/18/hypnotic-line-art-faces/ Colour: is the element of art that is produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to the eye. avidjrodger.wordpress.com/2012/08/05/art-¦-dramatic-polychrome-colour-potraits-by-francoise-nielly-bleed-across-cyberpunk-and-1980s/ Texture: is the perceived surface quality of a work of art. It is an element of two-dimensional and three-dimensional designs http://www.houzz.com/photos/7675868/Oil-Painting-Abstract-Modern-Heavy-Texture-Red-Swirl-contemporary-paintings Depth: a dimension taken through an object or body of material, usually downward from an upper surface, horizontally inward from an outer surface, or from top to bottom of something regarded as one of several layers. http://neosurrealism.artdigitaldesign.com/modern-artists/?artworks/digital-art/portraits-in-depth-susanne.html Tone (black and white): refers to the lightness or darkness of something. This could be a shade or how dark or light a colour appears. Balance – symmetrical- can be described as having equal "weight" on equal sides of a centrally placed fulcrum. It may also be referred to as formalbalance. Balance – asymmetrical- not identical on both sides of a central line; unsymmetrical; lacking symmetry: Harmony- Contrast- in visual design means all parts of the visual image relate to and complement each other. Repetition (Rhythm)- refers to one object or shape repeated; pattern is a combination of elements or shapes repeated in a recurring and regular arrangement;rhythm--is a combination of elements repeated, but with variations. Proportion- refers to the relative size of parts of a whole (elements within an object). Proximity (Directional Movement)- nearness in place, time, order, occurrence, or relation. Rule of thirds- is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section. White Balance- is a camera setting that adjusts for lighting in order to make white objects appear white in photos. This is more difficult than it might seem due to the fact that light cast from different sources is different in color (technically called temperature). |
