The strongest critics of Ontario's sharp hike on Jan. 1 in the hourly rate from $11.60 to $14 use traditional economics to predict certain doom for an economy devastated by plunging employment. While this increase is happening in a single province, that province is Canada's most populous and most industrialized. It includes rich cities and rural backwaters. And if it damages the economy, it is reasonable to assume that damage will have an impact across the country. Previous studies have shown price increases will come, but economists say they should be small. For example, if minimum-wage labour contributes 10 per cent of a product's value, final prices would rise by about two per cent.
A minimum-wage hike is not necessarily bad for business, because all businesses have to pay it. Some say businesses will move operations to lower-wage parts of the world, but even that is disputed. Others say the poor will be worst affected as consumer prices rise.On Friday Canadian job creation hit another high and unemployment hit another low. Perhaps this time the real-life experiment will work out. I believe that this new wage is very beneficial for the younger group of people. but it also hurts the economy and the industries that have a tough time paying their employee's already. economic equality is a relation to this and so is individual rights and freedoms.

Canadian negotiators are pushing to insert a "groundbreaking" chapter on Indigenous rights into the North American Free Trade Agreement. They have recently tabled a draft chapter on Trade and Indigenous peoples that includes language referring the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the protection of traditional Indigenous knowledge. As of now, it is unclear whether NAFTA will survive the current negotiations as a result of the U.S. opening position that the trade agreement is a bad deal. Government looks forward to continuing the dialogue with Indigenous peoples. People are saying that they have confidence in the Canadian representative that they will be able to carry on with these agreements and do whatever they can to keep them under control. These rights for the Indigenous have been going on for a long time. These obstacles that have been along the way are hard and that we should be able to get past them but also consider whatever comes into our way. Indigenous peoples have fought and fought for the rights that they have been trying to get. Indigenous peoples did not get a say what happens with their rights. Safe guard aboriginals collective rights. my opinion is that we should be going along with this, aboriginal rights should be safe and to put them into the Charter and protection from our peoples rights Indigenous child welfare rates creating 'humanitarian crisis' in Canada, says federal minister.11/2/2017 Indigenous Service Minister, Jane Philpott, wrote a letter to provincial on Tuesday requesting a "emergency meeting" on a Indigenous children and family services. Indigenous leaders will also attend the meeting. Census data last week recorded 4,300 Indigenous children is under the age of four are currently in foster care. This is pretty much the same as the residential school system, kids are being taken away from their home and their family. Ottawa themselves put in 200 million last year for First Nation welfare and an additional 256 million this year. First Nations National Chief said more money is need to make all of this work. Chief said that "children only have one childhood" wanting to make the child's life better and full of hope. Ottawa would then execute a type of plan like the Marshall Plan but it would be called Spirit Bear Plan. My opinion on this would be that we should help the children not only First Nation but Non First Nation also, I think that it is a good idea that we are trying to help them and put them into better places, but the amount of money that is going towards them is ridiculous. Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are proposing far-reaching $5-trillion US plan that would cut taxes for individuals and corporations. This will take months to workout and divide between. Republicans see the tax overhaul as a once in a generation opportunity that can have a large political payoff.
As of now there is no set cost for how much it will be but experts put the tax cut at $5-Trillion over next 10 years, net cost is $1.5 Trillion under deal. This increases the amount of personal income that is tax free. "This is a once in a generation opportunity to fundamentally rethink our tax code. We can unleash the economy - promoting growth, attracting jobs and improving American competitiveness in the global market" - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Mitch McConnell is for the tax plan, he think's it will be a great opportunity. Trump is willing to fight for this tax plan to be put into action. There is no amount on how much it will cost as of now. This increases the amount of personal income that is tax-free. I disagree because it is making more money for the rich and wealthy and not for everyone else who actually needs it |
